In mid-2025, Chile’s Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation (MinCiencia) released the draft National Quantum Technologies Strategy 2025-2035 for public consultation. The draft set out a ten-year plan to develop scientific, technological, industrial, and skills capacity across government, academia, and industry.
According to Access Partnership, the strategy articulated “a 2035 vision of a strong, dynamic, and connected ecosystem” for quantum technologies. It identified mining, energy, telecommunications, and health as priority sectors and proposed an intersectoral coordination mechanism with alignment to international standards, including post-quantum cryptography and secure communications.
MinCiencia built the draft on the 2024 advisory commission report and the March 2025 expert roundtable. Contributions were solicited from universities, research centers, companies, regional governments, and citizen organizations. The strategy also included provisions to reduce gender and territorial gaps in quantum ecosystem participation and to ensure environmental sustainability.
