Montenegro began participating in the EuroCC4SEE (European Competence Centers for Southeast Europe) project on April 1, 2024. Co-financed by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and the EU’s Digital Europe Programme, the EuroCC4SEE project runs through December 31, 2025, and focuses on building and enhancing National Competence Centres specializing in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and high-performance data analytics across Southeast Europe.
According to the project description, EuroCC4SEE serves as a regional extension of the EuroCC2 initiative. It focuses specifically on Southeast European countries including Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Turkey. While EuroCC2 included these associated countries in its network of 33 participating states, they were not eligible for direct funding, which led to the launch of EuroCC4SEE as a dedicated support mechanism.
NCC Montenegro, based at the University of Donja Gorica, receives support through the project for training activities, cooperation with companies, and assistance in accessing European supercomputing resources. Germany co-finances the project alongside the participating countries and the EuroHPC JU.
