Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) held a two-day workshop titled “Quantum Technologies: Opportunities and Challenges — From Egypt’s Perspective” on February 17 and 18, 2025, at Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat inaugurated the event, according to a report published by EUI.
Attendees included experts, researchers, and specialists, along with representatives from UNESCO, the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils affiliated with the Arab League, ISESCO, and IEEE Region 8. The workshop was held as part of activities celebrating the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025.
According to EUI, the workshop explored quantum technologies in the Egyptian context, examined their impact on key industries, and addressed cybersecurity and digital infrastructure implications. Dr. Talaat stated that the Ministry is committed to creating developmental impacts through various technologies including quantum technology, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things.
