The Canada-France Quantum Alliance (CAFQA) was established as an International Research Network in quantum science and technology, bringing together researchers from CNRS, French universities, and Canadian universities Canada-France Quantum Alliance overview. The network aims to foster collaborations between French and Canadian researchers in different fields of quantum sciences and technologies.

The first CAFQA workshop was organized by CNRS in Paris from May 22 to May 24, 2023, covering latest developments in quantum materials and circuits, quantum computing and simulation, and quantum communication. The alliance facilitates researcher mobility, joint projects, and knowledge exchange between the two countries’ quantum research ecosystems.

The network is part of the bilateral research cooperation activities under France’s National Quantum Strategy, which includes provisions for international partnerships in quantum technology research and development.
