Courses began on October 31, 2022, for Greece’s first Master of Science program in Quantum Computing and Quantum Technologies. The program is a collaboration between the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Democritus University of Thrace and the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the National Centre of Scientific Research “Demokritos,” according to an announcement reported by The Quantum Insider.

According to the program’s description, postgraduate students would gain knowledge in quantum mechanics, quantum computing, and quantum technologies, along with skills to program quantum computers and develop novel quantum algorithms. Students enrolled in the program use IBM quantum computers for coursework through the “IBM Quantum Educators Program” and may access IBM Quantum systems for dissertation research through the “IBM Quantum Researchers Program.”

Graduates of the program can pursue careers in the public or private sector or continue toward a Ph.D. The program website lists courses covering quantum computing, quantum communications, quantum algorithms, and quantum machine learning, among other subjects. No previous knowledge of quantum mechanics is required for admission.
