The Indonesian Defense University (Universitas Pertahanan, or Unhan RI) inaugurated the Center for Quantum Security Ecosystem (CQSE) on May 5, 2025, at an international seminar titled “Quantum Security for Digital Sovereignty: National Cyber Defense Strategies in the Era of Quantum Computing.” According to Indonesia Business Post, senior officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense attended the event, which was held at Unhan’s campus in Sentul, Bogor.
At the same forum, Unhan released a national Quantum Security Roadmap for 2025 to 2030, divided into phases. Phase 1 (2025 to 2027) calls for a joint research center involving BRIN, BSSN, and the Indonesian Military (TNI), along with a testbed for Quantum VPN to secure government and military communications. Phase 2 (2027 to 2030) envisions implementation of PQC and quantum key distribution (QKD) standards across the national strategic network, as well as the creation of a Quantum Security Operation Center.
South Korean quantum security company EYL, Kookmin University, and AXGATE participated in the project under a contract with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, providing 92 pieces of quantum security equipment. Rector Jonni Mahroza said the establishment of CQSE represented a step toward Indonesian sovereignty in quantum cybersecurity, as reported by EYL.
