The Indonesian Quantum Initiative (IQI) and BRIN’s Research Center for Quantum Physics announced a Degree by Research (DbR) fellowship program for master’s and doctoral students in quantum science and technology, with a first-batch application deadline of November 30, 2025. According to the BRIN-Q program page, the initiative offers funded positions in collaboration with faculty from four universities: the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), November 10 Institute of Technology (ITS), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), and the University of Indonesia (UI).
Financial support is provided through the BRIN DbR fellowship, covering tuition for two-year master’s or three-year doctoral programs. Students conduct research primarily at BRIN facilities in Serpong under the supervision of a BRIN-Q researcher and a university professor. Research topics span quantum information theory, quantum materials, quantum devices, and quantum simulation.
BRIN stated that the program would open each semester, with applicants from STEM fields eligible regardless of age. Exceptional students may also receive a BRIN Research Assistantship covering monthly living costs, subject to national budget availability.
