The Nordic-Estonian Quantum Computing e-Infrastructure Quest (NordIQuEst) launched in April 2022 as a three-year project funded by the Nordic e-Infrastructure Collaboration (NeIC). The project brought together seven partners from five countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Norwegian participants included Simula Research Laboratory and SINTEF.

NordIQuEst was designed to establish a cross-border quantum computing platform customized to the needs of the Nordic region. According to NeIC, the platform would provide access to quantum computers, quantum computer simulators, and the LUMI pre-exascale supercomputer, along with user interfaces, quantum program libraries, and training materials.

Hans Eide, Senior Advisor at Sigma2 and then-chair of the NeIC board, stated that the project would connect ongoing Nordic quantum computing activities and provide added value for all participants. Sigma2, Norway’s national e-infrastructure manager, coordinated the country’s participation through the consortium.
