Singapore’s National Quantum Office (NQO), VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, IQM Quantum Computers, and CSC – IT Center for Science (Finland) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on August 30, 2022, to explore and promote research and development collaboration in quantum technologies, according to A*STAR.

Under the MoU, the parties agreed to accelerate the development of quantum technology hardware components, algorithms, and applications, and to collaborate in quantum-accelerated high-performance computing and both terrestrial and satellite quantum communications. The agreement also facilitated knowledge exchange on national strategic roadmaps for quantum technologies.

VTT hosted Finland’s first quantum computer, Helmi, while CSC operated the LUMI supercomputer. IQM is a European quantum computer manufacturer. NQO Executive Director Ling Keok Tong described the collaboration as “a tremendous opportunity to develop competitive and world leading quantum technologies, and nurture quantum talent.”
