SPTel, a joint venture company of ST Engineering and SP Group, and SpeQtral, a Singapore-based quantum communications company, announced on November 15, 2023, that they had been jointly appointed by IMDA to build the National Quantum-Safe Network Plus (NQSN+), according to SPTel.

When completed, NQSN+ will be an interoperable network fortified with quantum encryption capabilities for critical government and commercial applications. The appointment built on SPTel and SpeQtral’s successful quantum-secure network trials on SPTel’s diverse fibre network in 2022.

Strategic industry partners included ST Engineering for quantum-ready encryptors and Toshiba Digital Solutions for its QKD system. Singtel was separately appointed as the second NQSN+ operator.
