Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat announced the launch of three national quantum platforms on May 31, 2022, at the Asia Tech x Singapore conference. The platforms received at least S$23.5 million (USD 17 million) from the Quantum Engineering Programme for up to three and a half years under the Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2020 plan, according to a report from The Quantum Insider.
The National Quantum Computing Hub (NQCH), a joint initiative of CQT at NUS, A*STAR’s Institute of High Performance Computing, and the National Supercomputing Centre Singapore, was created to pool expertise in quantum hardware, middleware, and algorithms. It also planned to host Singapore’s first quantum computer.
The National Quantum Fabless Foundry (NQFF), hosted at A*STAR’s Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, supports micro and nanofabrication of quantum devices. The National Quantum-Safe Network (NQSN), announced in February 2022, was already conducting nationwide trials of quantum-safe communication technologies including Quantum Key Distribution.
