The Nordic-Estonian Quantum Computing e-Infrastructure Quest (NordIQuEst) project launched in April 2022 under the Nordic e-Infrastructure Collaboration (NeIC). According to NeIC, the three-year project brought together a consortium of seven partners from five countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The University of Tartu represented Estonia in the consortium.

NordIQuEst was designed to build a Nordic-Estonian ecosystem combining high-performance computing (HPC) and quantum computing. The project connected the LUMI pre-exascale supercomputer in Kajaani, Finland, to quantum computers in Espoo, Finland (Helmi), and Gothenburg, Sweden (QAL 9000). Researchers across the region gained access to quantum hardware through a unified platform integrated with existing HPC resources.

Funding came from NeIC/NordForsk, with the project running until May 2025. In addition to infrastructure development, NordIQuEst organized training events including the Quantum Autumn School series, which built quantum computing competencies among Nordic and Baltic researchers.
